Promotion for Migrants
Almost all study foundations that receive public monies offer scholarships from the very beginning of the first academic year onwards to promote and motivate students coming from educationally disadvantaged families.

Hans-Böckler-Foundation
The “Böckler-Project Education” is aimed at talented young people coming from families who cannot afford to fund the higher education of their children. The number of migrants’ children joining this programme is very high.
Foundation of German Business
Within the framework of their scholarship programmes, the Foundation of German Business already provides support for school pupils. In some areas it also manages to provide up to 60 % of support for migrants.
Heinrich Böll Foundation
The Böll-Foundation supports high-school graduates from migration families who plan to study journalism. Conditions for a scholarship are outstanding achievements at school and socio-political commitment.
Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation
The Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation supports talented and socio-politically committed students and graduates, who are willing to use their abilities for the welfare of the community. It is of great importance to the foundation to help to contribute to facilitating access to Higher Education. Thus, the new scholarship programme of the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation is aimed at young people with a migration background.
Hertie Foundation
Horizons - The Lectureship Grant for Migrants
The Hertie Foundation supports outstanding future teachers with a migration background during their education. They, furthermore, aim to encourage talented and committed high-school graduates with a migration background to enter the teaching profession.
“Vodafone Chances”
The “Vodafone Chances” scholarship programme of the Vodafone Foundation gives young migrants the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in Germany.
Robert Bosch Foundation LLC
The Robert Bosch Foundation is one of the larger foundations in Germany that works in association with companies. Central concerns of the foundation are information and education work as well as further education. The foundation is not limited in its types of support and offers a variety of forms of support (e.g. support to take part in contests, scholarship programmes, support for pilot schemes, appointments of independent commissions and juries, seminars and colloquia). The Robert Bosch Foundation also supports the “Vodafone Chances” scholarship programme.
berami berufliche Integration e.V.
Mentoring Programme for female migrants (Mentoring für Migrantinnen)
In 2005 the Frankfurt association of “berami” started a mentoring programme to promote the occupational education of female migrants. The application process for the fourth round started in September 2008.
Peter Fuld Foundation
The foundation supports students, provided that they are suffering due to their origins on the basis of their social environment and/or the ethnic group they belong to.
Otto Benecke Foundation
The academics programme (AKP) of the Otto Benecke Foundation particularly supports older migrants, persons who received a settlement permission according to §23 (2) AufenthG and persons seeking asylum as long as they are older than 30 and younger than 50 years of age.
